All,
Date: Wednesday 20th August 2008
Where: illuminate iCT office, Nuneaton
At illuminate iCT, we have been using the open source content management system Drupal to build powerful websites in the voluntary and community (VCO) sector for about 3 years, developing modules, themes, tools and patches for the Drupal community. This solves an immediate need of the groups that we can physically work with, but through collaboration and teaching of the skills we have developed to sector developers and techies, we would like to promote stronger and longer-term foundations for the sector to really benefit from such powerful open source systems as Drupal.
We therefore invite you to attend our Drupal Conference at our office in Nuneaton. Please see the attached agenda, and contact us if you would like to attend. The conference will cost £15 per person - to cover our costs - so please confirm your place ASAP. The idea of the meeting is to find out who else is using Drupal in the sector (or who is interested in learning) and to share ideas. After this meeting, we will be releasing some hands-on Drupal courses, ranging from 'Using Drupal' to 'Advanced Drupal Development'.
Nick and Matthew from illuminate iCT have presented workshops at International Drupal conferences and Nick is an open source developer (www.nickblundell.org.uk) and teacher of open source development for Learn Open Source in the Netherlands. We are very keen to work with other people in the sector to build up the skills and capabilities that are required by the sector to really benefit from open source software (i.e. by allowing the sector to develop and customise such systems rather than expect to stumble across ready-made solutions).
See our website for more details about our work: http://www.illuminateict.org.uk
Attached is a rough agenda of the meeting/conference.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you,
Nick
