Drupal hosting in the UK

Hi all drupalers in the UK,

I have a site that I want to host in the UK, but I have been having trouble getting something up that doesn't run really slowly compared to my local box on shared hosting.

I saw the previous plug for http://www.webhost.uk.net/ but I was a little concerned that it might have been a spam, but I am taking a look at them now.

Does anyone have any suggestions for serious drupal expereinced webhosts in the UK?

Host Evaluation

We are currently evaluating multiple hosts to make a decision for all of our clients. I'll post the findings here as soon as they are ready. Are you looking for shared or dedicated servers? Managed or not?

Hello,

My name is Sam Moore and I run a newly established web hosting company.

If we are talking about a fair number of clients then as we are fairly new, we will be very open to price negotiation.

To the best of my understanding the going rate for drupal hosting is 4-5 Pounds per month and we would certainly be willing to go below that.

impossible

I've never had an entirely pleasant experience with a hosting company. I am currently using Slicehost, which has been my best experience so far. Not sure what to recommend if UK location is a priority?

linode

if you want a VPS, I use linode, better value for the same money and they have a datacentre in London.

I am a director of Ecohost (http://ecohost.coop) - a co-operative web hosting company offering shared hosting on UK based servers running on 100% renewable electricity tarifs (from Ecotricity). As far as we know we are in the only UK data centre to currently run on 100% renewable electricty.

We are small. We have ethics. We love Drupal.

While we may not be large enough (yet) for some potential clients, we are growning fast and host a fair few Drupal sites. So I would encourage Drupalers to give us a try.

Do you offer something else

Do you offer something else than FTP access too? (SSH, SVN, GIT)? I feel it's necessary for any company to compete with Drupal hosting (Drush!)
